Ray LaMontagne
Welcome to the wonderful world of mellow and strong music. Ray LaMontagne has a gruff yet soothing voice backed by a classic otis redding sort of themed band. He reminds me very much of an otis redding/ben harper sort of mixture that is really refreshing in a world of pop/rock generic tunes. Trouble is perhaps one of the most popular and one of my favorites from the album. Crazy is definitely a sweet remake of the popular Gnarls Barkley song, it's not an annoying cover- but a nice take on the song. Jolene is just another amazing love song that has just enough sorrow in it to make you sit and be quiet. If you're looking for an artist that you can play in the background, listen to on a rainy day, or just mellow out to- I think that Ray is a great musician to consider. The album "Trouble" is a great place to start.

Metric
I found an excellent cover of one of my favorite Elliott Smith songs on YouTube Between The Bars and I decided to do some research on this band because I fell in love with the woman's voice. The band is Metric, it's a kind of rock/pop band that seems really underrated. I've never heard of them before but found myself pleasantly surprised at the amount of material that you can find on YouTube and the standard Google Search. My favorite songs are pretty much hand in hand with the most popular and they are as follows: Combat Baby & Dead Disco TOTALLY reminds me of some old "yeah yeah yeahs" stuff. Soft Rock Star (no vid available) is a softer tune and i love Poster of A Girl Empty is another great song, has a pretty hard bridge, but the overall song is really nice Empty is good and good for you, I get totally mesmerized when I listen to Torture Me it has a real cibo matto kind of feel to it. Raw Sugar is a great tune for kind of mellow moments with a deep beat to keep your head bobbin- I also love The Twist (no vid available)- absolutely easy to listen to the first time through the vid is a dorky home movie but still somewhere to hear the song. Metric has a really versatile collection of music, ranging from a mild hiphop sound to a nice harsh rock alternative sound with pop in between. seems like they have a tune for every mood and the lead singer (Emily Haines) has such an amazing voice that it's almost impossible not to keep listening. Visit I Love Metric for their homepage, tours, and merch info.

Go Go Gadget Headphones! (welcome)

This is the musical blog of miss Amber Frances... Ear and hair extraordinaire. Stumbling between torrents, itunes store, amazon's "you might also like" and such... I have developed a hard drive and a half of music to soothe any soul. No chicken soup required for this therapy, just an ear or two, and an open mind. So sit back, get your itunes store open for your thirty second preview and open a port or two for azureus because torrent links will be provided if possible. I totally do NOT condone piracy or stealing music or any other kind of media.
